Hi guys. Although I came to school this morning, I really don't feel well and so I am going home. I apologize for ducking out on you, but I hope you can handle working independently today and we'll get back to it tomorrow.
For today, I have placed some papers on the desk at the front of the room. Please grab these. Two of the papers/packets are related to grammar and sentence structure.
1) Upon reading your essays this weekend, I have found that many of you are struggling with identifying and utilizing appositive phrases; therefore, I have included a handout for some remediation on that front.
2) The second handout is on participial phrases. This is our new grammar topic for the next week or so. Please read the handout and complete the activities. We are going to have several other practices for this topic, but ultimately, you will be incorporating them into your other grammar essay. That is the part that I will grade for correctness.
3) The final handout is a set of questions for the Wife of Bath. You may work with a partner, but please answer these questions on paper. I will give you a grade for your written discussions of these questions tomorrow.
Tomorrow, we will discuss the Wife of Bath, and begin The Sound and the Fury. You do not need to read any of the novel for class tomorrow; we will be looking at it in class.
Thanks, and I will see you all tomorrow.
