- Read your independent reading book for 10 minutes.
- Read the short story, “Lamb to the Slaughter.” With your table group DISCUSS the embedded questions. You do not have to write out your answers.
- Come to class on Tuesday ready to talk about what you liked or didn’t like about these stories. MORE, you should think about the writing techniques used. WRITE THE ANSWERS to the following questions for each story:
- How did the author make you feel invested in the character(s) of the story? Did you like them? Not like them? Why? Did they feel real to you?
- How did the author create the setting for you as a reader? Find some parts of the story that stood out to you as being really good in creating setting.
- Consider the pace of the story. Which parts seemed to be full of clear action and which parts seem slower? How did the author change the pace and what was the effect on the story?
- Anything else that stood out for you in terms of how the author affected you in writing his story.
- How did the author make you feel invested in the character(s) of the story? Did you like them? Not like them? Why? Did they feel real to you?
