Because of the weather, we will not have time to have everyone participate in the debates as planned before the end of the semester. Therefore, we will use the following plan instead:
1) Everyone will turn in a written case affirming or negating your resolution. While you will work with your partner, you will be graded on your case and your case alone. The grade will count as half of a test grade, since we are taking out the improvisation and quick critical thinking that would be required in participating in a real debate.
YOUR CASES WILL BE DUE ON TUESDAY AFTER MLK DAY. BE PREPARED TO TURN IN A TYPED COPY OF THEM AT THE BEGINNING OF CLASS ON THAT DAY.
2) Any group, or pair, who participates and films their debate will receive 10 points extra credit. You must send a working link to a youtube video, with adequate audio, to me by Tuesday morning to receive the extra credit.
3) Tomorrow, block 1 will participate in a seminar on monopolies and a topic of their choice to make up for the seminar missed on this past Friday. Both classes will have a seminar on a topic of my choice and a topic of your choice on Tuesday of next week as a final opportunity to make up any missing seminar grades.
4) Tomorrow, you will be given time to work on finishing your cases, and filming if you so choose.
5) Friday, I will not be there. Block 1 will take the vocabulary quiz that you missed last week. Everyone will work on a NC Final Review packet that we will review on Tuesday after MLK day.
I hope you have enjoyed your days off. I will see you all tomorrow!
